From Lhasa
The space of my poetry is left behind
The color of the world is left behind
Freedom is left behind, the sound of songs is left behind

From Lhasa
I left behind the power of life, connected through the thirty letters
The truth of history that Potala left me is left behind
Pain is left behind, the sorrow of remembrance is left behind

From Lhasa
Yogi Tshangyang’s anguished wishes are left behind
The skillful courage of the seven wise men of antiquity is left behind
Heroism is left behind, integrity is left behind

From Lhasa
Gendun Chophel’s truth to fight the world is left behind
The tongue of the alphabet is left behind

From Lhasa
I even left behind a girl called Dolma’s tears of love
My mind is left behind, my backward look is left behind
