The cold metal stove

Tsering Tashi is among the third generation of writers in Tibet and his writings are very provocative. Readers have especially paid immense attention to his poems, which are sexually explicit in a way that is new in Tibetan writing. His pen name, which is Dha Tsenpo, is derived from his birthplace.

The cold metal stove

Dha Tsenpo

The cold steel stove,
Is it the midnight of the couple who has slept?
Or the tenth day of
the poor lonely guy who has parted from home?

The cold steel stove,
Is it the naked summer in the midst of the humid weather?
Or is it the precious stove of the rich miser after the tea has boiled?

The cold steel stove,
Is it the stomach of the loud mouthed wish
or the hard weary suffering of yours and mine?

Or, the cold steel stove,
Is it the empty sky of this lonely earth?
